In Czech, there are 4 kinds of gender for nouns: Masculine Animate(Ma), Masculine Inanimate(Min), Feminine(F), and
The difference between Ma and Min is if the noun is, frankly, an animal or not.
So a robot is animated thing, but as long as it is not an animal, it is counted as Min noun.
(Don't ask me the gender of a robot, please! I know there could be a very animated cute feminine looking robot in Japan, but it's not the point here!)
